Griffith Honda recently announced the Honda’s hybrid float entitled, “A World of Dreams” will be the leading float for the 2011 Rose Bowl Parade.

On New Year’s Day each year Honda has participated in the Rose Bowl Parade, this year marks the 50^th anniversary and your Oregon Honda dealer gives their full support.  Honda will present “A World of Dreams,” with a 35-foot castle on January 1, 2011 at 8 a.m. PST.

“Honda has worked with the Tournament of Roses for the past 50 years to bring tradition and entertainment to parade viewers and the local community,’ said Stephan Morikawa of American Honda Corporate Community Relations. “The Rose Parade is our opportunity to wish everyone watching around the world a happy New Year.”

This year (due to Honda sponsoring the parade) Honda will not be eligible to enter in the competition for the best float.  Honda is proud to have won 15 out of the past 16 years they have entered.

The Union of Concerned Scientists recently announced the 2010 winner of the “Greenest Automaker” Award. For a fifth year in a row Honda received the top honor. The scientists base the award on a number of factors including the amount of smog and greenhouse gas each car emits. Each car in a company’s fleet is tested and in the end the brand with the lowest score takes the prize.

“Honda’s decade-long claim to the Greenest Automaker title has set a high bar for the industry,” said Jim Kliesch, a senior engineer with the Union of Concerned Scientists. “The companies that do best in our analysis continually strive not only to sell the greenest vehicles, but also to green their best-sellers.”

Honda has been in the rankings for the ten years, since this award was created in 2000. The past five years Honda has been able to come out on top.

“As with the past four awards, we accept this fifth honor as both recognition of our success and a challenge for the future,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We continue to accelerate our efforts to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions that contribute to global climate change.”
