Accord Sedan

The 2009 Accord Sedan is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 13 trims, ranging from the LX 5-Spd, MT to the EX-L V-6 5-Spd AT w/ Navigation System. This spacious Oregon Honda Accord sedan is great for driving from Portland to City of The Dalles or beyond.

Upon introduction, the LX 5-Spd MT is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 177-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 31-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The EX-L V-6 5-Spd AT w/ Navigation System is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 271-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

Four-cylinder and V6-powered Accord sedans are available with either a 177- or 190-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, or a 271-hp 3.5-liter V6. The V6 includes Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management cylinder deactivation. Sedans are offered in EX and EX-L trim levels. Sedans also come in entry-level LX and LX-P versions. An entry-level LX-S coupe is also offered. The 4-cylinder engine is available on all models. EX and EX-L sedans are also available with the V6. A 5-speed automatic transmission is available across the board. Leather seating is standard on EX-L models, but not available otherwise. A navigation system is also available.

The LX Premium gets 16” alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust finisher, and auto-up/down driver’s and front passenger’s windows.

The top-of-the-line EX-L V6 includes leather-trimmed interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, passenger’s seat with 4-way power adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control system, 270-watt AM/FM/6-disc in-dash premium audio system, and a HomeLink®⁵ remote system.

Powertrains and Performance

Accord models have always roared ahead of the curve. That’s because they utilize i-VTEC® for abundant power and efficiency at all engine speeds. The V-6 features the latest generation of Honda’s Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology, which activates the engine’s cylinders as needed, providing both brisk acceleration and fuel savings.

The LX 4-door features a 2.4-liter i-VTEC® 4-cylinder with 177 hp. Plus, there’s a 190-hp EX version. And a 271-hp 3.5-liter V-6.

Choose a quick-shifting 5-speed manual transmission. Or opt for the available 5-speed automatic that features our Grade Logic Control system, which helps put an end to gear-hunting when climbing uphill or driving back down.

Safety

Every Accord is designed to keep you on course and away from danger. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) helps sense oversteer or understeer in an emergency situation, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control and keep you on course. Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), help you maintain control during hard braking. Properly inflated tires are crucial for safe operation, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when a tire’s pressure reaches a significantly low level. Every Accord also features standard front, front side and side curtain airbags to help prevent injuries in a collision. Active front head restraints help reduce whiplash injuries in a sufficient rear impact.

Interior Design and Special Features

In the Accord’s case, bigger is better. It means more comfort and more room for those Honda details, like available leather-trimmed seats. The driver’s seat has eight-way power adjustment to fine tune a perfect fit (all but LX). Rear passengers enjoy ample room conveniences like a fold-down center armrest.

Included with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® enables you to make hands-free calls with many compatible phones. And steering wheel-mounted controls for audio and cruise control allow you to change speeds or music at will.
